One of the characteristics of today's society is the heterogeneity and diversity it offers from the perspective of beliefs and convictions. Law cannot remain on the sidelines of this reality and therefore a profound legal reflection is needed on how to manage this diversity in order to achieve peaceful coexistence between citizens and the groups they comprise.
This seminar aims to contribute to the achievement of that objective. The speakers are of recognised prestige and experience in this field. Their presentations will allow for a better understanding of the current status of religious confessions in Spain, an assessment of the degree of respect for the fundamental right of religious freedom and belief, and the challenges ahead for the adequate management of diversity.
During this Seminar, the presentation of the Laboratory on Freedom of Belief and Diversity Management (LICREGDI) will take place. This institution, recently established within the University of Zaragoza, is the result of the efforts of several professors who have dedicated the past few years to the study of the protection of freedom of belief and the public management of diversity, and the problems it is posing in Aragonese society. The Laboratory's purpose is to continue this type of research in a stable manner, provide solutions that improve this area, and serve as a meeting point for public authorities, the University, and civil society.
